NIPPON SEIKI 80th LOGO

To celebrate our 80th anniversary, we held an internal competition for a new logo design. The final design was selected by employee vote from among 67 entries.
This logo prominently features the automotive meters that we manufacture and incorporates elements of our current logo and corporate color, green, to maintain our brand identity.Additionally, it emphasizes the milestone with the design elements "80th" and "ANNIVERSARY."
The depth of the logo symbolizes our aspiration to continue advancing as we have in the past and will in the future.

The Beginning of Our Challenge

In December 1945, shortly after the end of war, amid a shortage of materials, we started with a team of five employees in the Precision Machinery Division of Nihon Kikai Seisakusho Co., Ltd. driven by the belief that "refining our skills would lead to the creation of excellent products." The following year, in 1946, we established Nippon Seiki Co., Ltd. in Nagaoka, Niigata Prefecture. The "Nippon"(means "Japan" in Japanese) in the company's name reflects our ambition to become a representative company of Japan that would soar across the world.

The Start of Our Journey with Meters

At the beginning of our founding, we manufactured screws and gears, aiming for higher value-added manufacturing, and developed finished meters. We refined our products based on the technology and knowledge cultivated through the gas meter repair business. The accumulated record of orders led to trust, and the meter business significantly grew after being adopted for "Honda Super Cub", which later triggered a phenomenal boom.

Expansion during the Era of Rapid Economic Growth

The meter business, which initially started with three-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles, further expanded its adoption to four-wheeled vehicles. Alongside the development of the Japanese automobile market, the business experienced significant growth. Additionally, as indicators for fuel levels and other information besides speed and mileage began to be displayed on meters, the development of sensors for fuel levels, among other things, was initiated. To this day, we continue to develop sensors for various applications.

Global Expansion of Business Operations

In 1972, we established our first overseas subsidiary in the United States, located at Los Angeles. Despite the challenging global economic conditions such as the Dollar Shock, the experience gained from our ventures in the United States, which was on the cusp of a new era, became the foundation of our "spirit of challenge" that drives us through the constantly evolving global economy.

Leap Forward through Going Public

Gradually expanding overseas and building a track record, we maintained the momentum of starting operations at our overseas factories in the United States and the United Kingdom. In 1989, we went public on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. With many companies aspiring to go public at the time, our successful listing, achieved in a race against time, accelerated subsequent business expansion and served as the fuel for further growth.

Challenge to Cutting-Edge Technology (HUD)

Since the 1980s, HUD (Head-Up Display) has been attracting attention in the automotive industry as cutting-edge technology. Although we embarked on its development, we were initially unable to secure orders. Driven by the strong determination of our president, we persisted with development and finally succeeded in mass production for OEMs in the 1990s. Our continual commitment to innovation and technological advancement has since transformed HUD into one of our core businesses today.

Recovery from the Earthquake Disaster

The Niigata Chuetsu Earthquake that occurred in October 2004 caused significant damage to the Nippon Seiki Group. Although we were temporarily unable to continue normal production, thanks to the support of our customers and many others both inside and outside the company, we were able to achieve early recovery. Furthermore, this recovery process allowed us to reaffirm the importance of inter-group collaboration and provided an opportunity to strengthen our unity.

Enhancement of Global Competitiveness

Since the 2000s, with the acceleration of the globalization of the Japanese economy, we have built overseas production systems to keep up with the fluctuating economy and have worked on expanding our business. In 2019, we established a HUD factory in Poland, enhancing our supply system at Europe. This has aimed to further strengthen the competitiveness of our HUD business, which is expected to grow in the future.

Creation of New Value

In recent years, we have also been working on developing products for the B2C market, such as the "CO2 Concentration Measuring Device" developed during the COVID-19 pandemic and the "Easy-to-Install HUD" created to increase HUD awareness. The Nippon Seiki Group continues to challenge itself not only by expanding existing businesses but also by creating new value through new businesses.
